Parking Brake Valve

When I applied my parking brake today I could hear air leaking at the Parking Brake Valve, I twisted the button and it stopped, seems like it is time to replace it.

Is it better to rebuild the valve or replace it?

I found this at Napa (I am going there to get oil today)

In the picture it is the valve without the line coming out of the bottom.

I just changed mine out 2 days ago due to the same symptoms.  Napa didn't have mine in stock, I ended up having to go to a brake/tranny shop that specializes in big trucks parts.

    This probably would work but they're not very specific about whether it's new or rebuilt so I'm going to guess rebuilt.

       This one is listed as new/Bendix, but the price looks higher than I'd expect.  I think I'd price a couple of "real" truck/bus/heavy-vehicle supply places and go with a new Bendix if I could find one for less than NAPA.  Particularly with a rebuilt component, cheaper is not always a good thing.   For something as important as a brake valve (and inexpensive) as a brake valve, I'd very very inclined to go with new.

       If you're confident about doing it and you can identify the make of the valve on your bus (Bendix, Haldex, etc.), you can probably get a rebuild kit, but - again - I'd feel better about putting one that's new off the factory floor on my bus.

Just get a fresh one.

You have no idea as to the age of yours. Do you know how to evaluate it, whether it is good shape to be rebuilt?
You spend the time and money re-building it, and it doesn't work...

Zero the counter, next project?
