Serial # 47759 REPAIR
Spec # S-AP740-01

It is getting erratic in shifting. Usually, it will shift down with no issues. When cold after sitting for a while, it won't up shift. (This is in response to moving the toggle switch on the shifter pad at the driver's seat.)

Transmission is working perfect & if I push / pull the output of the shifter, it is free, with no binding. The shifter pad at the drivers seat shows the gear it is in correctly - it just sometimes doesn't cause the desired action at the rear.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or manual for this?

Any suggestions as to where to start?

THANKS!!!!

Kyle, save yourself some frustration call Donnie @ United Transmission 800-527-1637 (CA time) he will walk you through the adjustment he is the best on Stone/Bennett.

It may not be the shifter the model number indicates it is mounted on the side of a 740 and I guess it is air shifted since it is AP I never saw that before most are AS (air shift) or HS (hydraulic shift)

The PO of my bus was telling me he had a similar issue. He tells the story of the shop wanting to tear things apart for testing while he insisted that they first check for simple things like loose wires and connections. Apparently this went on for some time before the guys at the shop finally looked behind the shift switch and found a wire had vibrated loose from it's crimp-on connector.

If we're got the same set-up (and it sounds like we might) then the switch on the dash is a double-throw switch. Sounds like you're is only working on one of the two throws. First thing I'd check is to be sure that nothing has worked loose behind the switch.

Simple is always better when it works.
