Getting ready to replace cable throttle with a air throttle system on our bus. I have the throttle pedal valve and air modulator valve for transmission.

We know that all parts must meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 124.

Now to get parts that go on the governor on a DD 8V92

Must you mount fast idle and engine stop air valves on the new governor plate that mounts on top of governor.
I guess u could not mount the fast idle but it is good for airing up fast.

Any one have a plate for mounting this equipment that would like to sell it.

Thanks in advance
Paul

The slave that mounts on the governor housing for A DD are hard to find most people just use the WM 388 universal and make their linkage and bracket then you don't need to change anything but the position of the throttle arm

This might be a dumb question, but why?

Why an air throttle?  Because your leg won't get a cramp and want to fall off any longer. LOL They are wonderful.

Yep, if you have a 05 Eagle with solid linkage all the way back through many bushing points that might not have been lubricated over the years, and heavy return springs to fight the friction, you will notice a great difference in the tension required of your foot. One thing to be aware of, if you get one, is that there are different models of the foot pedals which have different angles to suit the floor angle. If you get the wrong one, your foot might be at a very uncomfortable angle. When I put mine in, I made a custom bracket that allowed me to fine tune the position so that when I was cruising down the interstate, my foot was at the most comfortable angle for me. The only disadvantage is that you have to wait for air pressure to build up, but in order to release the brake you have to wait anyway. They operate on reduced pressure, I believe it was 70 psi max (It's been 21 years).

That might explain why I was climbing Sandstone mountain and my son had to push down on my right leg.
BUT that was after 3.5 hours of climbing mountains...and moving faster than some of the cars :)

If the throttle linkages are stiff and heavy...

It's your coach, get under there are get it lubed up, freed up, swap in springs that match the job.

The last commercial operator didn't care about the driver's leg. With hired help, it's easier, cheaper and quicker to slap heavier springs in, than to lube the linkage.

Get that pedal lightened up!!!

happy coaching!

That might depend on the setup. I've had one on a 05 Eagle with 4 speed Spicer since 1996, and it has worked well.

Between routing my new wiring harnesses and sheer educational curiosity, I might need to lube it AND make sure it's still straight.

Never had a problem yet with the air throttle and 6 spd standard in the bus.

The folks who have trouble with air throttles and manual transmissions come from using worn out used parts, wrong sized lines or fittings that obstruct airflow.

A properly installed and working air throttle should be just as finely modulated and responsive in controlling the engine as a full length linkage.

I think I have what you need.  When I get back to the shop Monday I'll take a look.

Air Throttle was one of the best upgrades I ever did with my bus.  I even gained a few RPM.
Before i hurt my back so bad I almost couldn't walk from pressing that throttle.  I thought I'd have to give up the bus.

Now, I just have to balance my foot.  Could push it with my little toe.  So much better control and comfort.

Plus, I don't even understand the topic about response time.... I really don't get it.  It responds just fine.  I'm not running Nascar.
