I came across this bluebird bus for sale on CL, A 2007 express 4000 with a Cat C13 and low miles. My questions are I assume it would be 40' and 102 wide? Do they have a frame or built like a MCI? and how about putting slides in one. If I could come up with the $ I think it could make a excellent conversion project. Thanks Jason

That's it Dave, wonder what kind of headroom they have? would you have to raise the roof? Is the C13 a good engine? It's not far from me about a hour and a half drive. Might be worth a look, he was wanting 20g but I see he dropped down to 17500 now.

There is two things that are very tough to beat, cubic inch and low miles.

Thanks for the replies guys, I showed it to the wife and that didn't go over real well, especially after just re powering the 9 and all the money in it. but I'll keep trying to win her over with the slide out ideas lol

The eBay blurb says "There is an open toilet at the rear".   That sounds like my bus  -  I have a toilet in place and workable, but there's no walls around it so far, just sitting there in all its porcelain solitary splendor for the world to admire.

Morefire on the Skoolie forum bought an incomplete BB Express, decided its original C13 wasn't enough power and put in a 675HP ISX instead!   His build is well worth reading  -  an incredible job:  http://www.skoolie.net/forums/f32/2009-bluebird-coach-conversion-build-7184.html

Easy to take out those seats and you'll be getting three air ride units! Plus the drivers seat is a recaro!!! And a nice generator! That coach would be a great chassis! I'd be all over it...except I already have $55,000 in mine. Lol.

I'm like you Scott, I just put around $10,000 in my bus with the engine swap and that's not counting what I had in the turbo 8V71 a few years ago :'( I would never even get close to half what I got into it out of it. But it sure would be nice to have that new of a chassis and low millage to start with, then it should last me my lifetime of traveling. If I can talk the wife into it we may go look at it ;D Jason

The 2007-2008 C-13 did have a DPF regeneration problem but that one should have all the updates.I removed a series 50 and install a C-13 from a Blue Bird a friend bought from a uncompleted BB it hasn't been long ago I sold the frame for scrap

Can't DPF and all emissions be deleted? There are shops up here advertising just that. This is one of many on Kijiji.ca.

If your motorhome doesn't have to be inspected, I would sure look into it.

It can and does get done all the time.
Not sure I'd publicly post on the internet I did it.
After all the internet police are always looking for a reason to get riled up and who knows what that could bring upon the person that paid to have it done, the person that did it, or the person that got caught running it like that after words.

Best to quietly check the laws/rules in your area and play it that way.

If I was to have it done. Or if I were the one actually doing it for someone else it would definitely be a cash no receipt and if you get caught I don't know you type of deal!

Of course they advertise it for "off road", and "marine" applications. In BC and Alberta, and likely most other provinces and many states, a motorhome doesn't have to have inspections, so I would delete emissions on a modern 4 stroke. What I don't get is I see quite a few used class 8 trucks for sale that are "deleted". In commercial service, they have to pass Commercial Vehicle Inspection every 6 month to every year. So maybe they pass as long as there is no trouble code light on the dash?

JC

PS: A horse hauler was here a couple weeks ago with a nice 10 year old Peterbilt. He said though, that he is going to have to buy a new truck soon to be able to continue doing business in California.
