Hi All,

We used '04 last weekend and had two problems.  First was sticking throttle linkage.  Cut the spring in half and put both on to get me around the block and then added a nice spring I found in my spring box to assure she didn't hang up.  Anyone here still operating an '04 that knows what to do, please tell me where to lube or what you have on this.

So all went fine on our trip except we went to the beach the back way and clipped a branch that was hanging too far into the road and knocked a hole in the right roof clearance light lens.  Anybody got one or know where I might find one?

Also don't think I am getting full throttle.  Have a 2 speed between spicer and diff, but in low range barely got up an incline and pedal to the metal was 70 on the flat but still seems more sluggish than it used to be.

Maybe think about installing an air throttle. Granted the air throttle has a distinct "lag" to it, but you can get used to that. The main advantage is no more cable, and the pedal pressure is light. Good Luck, TomC

Tom, Have an air throttle on the '06 which is the fastest bus that I am aware of.  It has an air research turbo and N-65 injectors.  The air throttle is a bit sensitive and it can put out the most monstrous black cloud if you fail to exercise careful control with your foot!  I think another reason for all the power on that engine is the routing of the exhaust into the muffler which is located inside the extended rear bumper allowing for much better flow than the original choked can!  I think Gary Nickerson also has this arrangement.  No comparison between the slow '04 and the '06.  The '06 can easily cruise at 80 mph and needs cruise control so that it doesn't creep up while you are not looking down.  This awesome power needs taming as she will heat.  And for that there is a mister system that puts out the fire quite nicely and is fed on a separate pump on the main 100 gallon water tank.  Am interested in water injection for combustion.  Anybody done that?  Bill T.  (P.S. The '04 has high block engine 4 valve head and N-65 injectors.  Has large intake with dual exhaust.  Probably why she can run at 70 mph.  But '06 is so fast that anything else seems slow!)

Bill -

Over the years on this and the BNO board, stuck throttle cables on GMs have been discussed several times.

Basically you have to pull out the throttle cable, clean the housing, regrease the cable and reintsall.  Cures the problem 95% of the time.  The other 5% is when the brass housing that the cable runs through over/around the rear axle wears thru and breaks.  Then it's time for some Yanquie engineering.

Bonus tip: DON'T lose the cable clips!!
