Had this guy had a TireTraker Tire Pressure Monitoring System he would not have needed this tow dolly.  Check out the only TPMS with a Lifetime Guarantee.  And yes, it does have a temperature sensor built in and it will let you know if your tires start getting too hot.

How old were (are) his tires?  Are we advertising here?

Does anyone else have the TireTraker system installed? I am picking up the 1985 Silver Eagle on Monday and have had my finger over the purchase button the last couple days but then came over here and was researching and reading up on the PressurePro.

Looking for my TPMS system to last a good long while. Feedback/recommendations?

I like the way someone buys something (or worse is given it for free), uses it for a week and then has the temerity to publish a definitive review

You don't need temperature sensors-since low air pressure will create heat. If the tire is at the correct pressure, it will run at normal temperatures. Good Luck, TomC

    Hi;
I agree with Geoff, on both points.

Nothing wrong with doing a review for a company. Especially when it is something important to keep track of.

To lay all of our cards out on the table, TireTraker is one of our advertisers.  To clarify we were not given the TPMS system free.  Paul also wanted to do more extensive testing but he did not get to travel as much as he wanted to before it was time to release the article but overall he was very satisfied with the system.

If anyone wants to review another system and send it in to us to publish, we will gladly do it as we want to be as unbiased as possible.  However our advertisers are what support this Forum you are using and the magazine you are reading if you are a subscriber and/or read this Forum you may want to consider buying the TireTraker system to support the Forum and Magazine and then you can add your own thoughts about the system here.

We thought there would be a lot of interest in this topic which is why we choose to evaluate a TPMS system as safety is something we take very seriously at BCM.

Also, if you buy a TPMS from TireTraker and you are not 100% satisfied they have a full money back guarantee.  How can you go wrong with a deal like that because what have you got to lose?

Tom,

While low pressure will generate heat you can also get heat from a dragging brake or a bad bearing and an alert for high temp can really save the day.

What a TPMS will not do is allow someone to drive on old tires and get away with it, because a TPMS is not going to tell you you are about to have a blowout because the tires are so old they are cracking in the sidewalls.

TT-500 with Eight Sensors and Repeater has been ordered. Said it would be delivered to my house on Friday in time for our trip to Knoxville to pick up the Eagle.

Will get installed and provide my review when (if :-)) we get back!

Sharpe,

I am sure you will enjoy the unit.  I am interested to hear how it works for you.  About the booster, you may not even need it if you want to try running without it if you don't have a Toad. However as batteries start getting weak, then it will definitely come in help boost the signal. Also, if you have a Toad, be sure you have enuf for that too as sometimes those tires can go bad without you even realizing it.

All tires heat up going down the road,......that is why they also increase about 10-12% in pressure.   :)

Sharpe,

The manual is pretty straight forward and explains the setup very easily. If you have any questions I will PM my cell number to you so you can call if you need help. Daryl will also respond to an email or phone call pretty fast.

I enjoyed using the system and will be using it again on our next trip soon up to the NWBN rally in September, then on down south the Gold Hill, NV for the winter.

A TPMS system will never substitute for  a walk around before every trip to do the pre-trip check list. But what it does do is give you peace of mine that if you run over something, have a tire failure, it will let you know very fast. For me I liked the fact that my toad, which a 2011 Buick Enclave, the tires are monitored. I can see the car with my camera and look at it occasionally, but I would rather keep my eyes on the road. If an alarm comes up I will get notified.
