signal light help please 84 mci9

Hello All, 1984 mci 9, signals always work good with exception of needing a new flasher every few years. Well I thought this where I was once again, the lights come on and stay on. I purchased a new flasher same manufacturer,  same part number but the new one is electronic, circuit boards in it as opposed to the old mechanical flasher with contact points. The new one did not work, did nothing no lights at all, never mind flashing. I checked for power and it has good power. I returned the flasher and replaced with the same as just maybe the new one was faulty. Once again nothing at all. Please help, never had this before. The new flasher is 24 volt, my signals have always worked before with one burnt out light, and they all are good presently.

The circuit is simple - 10 amp breaker on the bus bar to the flasher, to the turn signal switch on the steering to the lights.  Load is three bulbs per side.  Tell-tale light on the dash comes from a third terminal on the flasher labeled P for pilot light.  Hazard lights (four way flashers) use the same flasher.  It might be a load thing, but I would have thought that three bulbs would be enough.  You can get load insensitive flashers meant for trailer use.

Thanks Brian, given the wiring is good , as I have no reason to think its bad as they have worked for the last 8 years or so. Would The load sensitive flasher be an issue when my trailer is not plugged in?

FYI , I took the old flasher apart , fixed the spring and cleaned contacts, the lights will come on, but still not flashing. My point is the lights come on with old one....nothing with the new one.

Are you using LED bulbs by chance?

no I am not, I actually think I found the problem. Didn't have much time to work on it today however I believe two wires may be reversed, will let you all know in a day or 2. I think the old style flasher might work that way but the new electronic style may be more fussy.
