Scott, so what now? If she wants to sell the bus, can the block be used to rebuild it? Or are you looking for a good runner to swap in?

Pull the engine and install a large squirrel cage in its place and put the cats in it. When you want to go, throw in a couple of mice. For passing, toss in a bull dog.

They just look worn strange due to reflections and the fact we just sprayed them down with brake clean and the oil was on them strange in the pix. They actually look surprisingly good up close.  Of course they are only 14 months old and it sits six months out of a year.  Maybe 25k on the ??  No black heat spots on the block holes either.

There is a bus company just off 7th just a few blocks away with a big yard and nice people. Kinda glad she wasn't around when I got there. Almost stopped by on Saturday but was on a call. I would have talked to the bus company about using some of their enormous space before I took it apart. Good thing was they have any tool you may need and like I said. They are pretty friendly. Now it's a big mess in a lot right down town Phoenix.

Those liners were tight coming out and the new .020 would have had to be driven in with a sledge hammer. They were .017 not .020.  Kevin has all the right tools and we checked, double and triple checked and they were too small.  After honing it's s great fit.  One down three to go when they get here tomorrow.  Overnight shipping was like $400 for the three Kits.   The block looks good though.

Yes all 4 on the front lower bank were toast. Three of them were cracked liners and the 4th had a broken piston in it with missing top ring.  One of the cracked liners had a piston with a hole in it.

.017 is standard for a .020 bore on a DD some fit, some you the use hone, they never bore one to the exact .020 liners vary too much even the OEM Detroit liners

Was the coolant not circulating on tha side? Seems odd one side is gone but the other is ok. I have seen that and all the cases the crossover was blocked. One time it was they didn't flip the head gasket over and the other times it was the crossover port was blocked. Or they didn't let the air out of the system at the crossover. Causing the coolant to be low on one side.
