The local guy here in Indy has the liner amd trunk kit on the shelf complete. Plus he"ll put it together for me as I don't have the tool for the wrist pin cap.  He's a bit higher than the internat places but having it all assembled and no shipping makes it ok.  I didn't ask him the price but the last time it was around $325 for everything for the hole.

Is it strange that a brand new reman engine would come with the one piece trunk style pitons?  I guess I didn't see that coming. None of my v engines ever had them, only my 47 671 has them.

Trunk style. Getting rid of old stock? Are they cheaper? I guess all the turbo engines would be Crosshead style? Good luck on that project.

Glen, your 92 series will have cross head, they do use the trunk style on turbo engines. They phased the trunk style out to do away with piston slap that would break the liners over time.
The trunk style is still around even in the 92 series , re builders don't want the expense of buying different connecting rods so they go back with the OEM serial and model number that is 1 way they can cover their @$#.
FWIW the trunk style is the only piston you can buy for the DD with the single big oil ring instead of with 2 small oil rings which is not all bad IMO but they are getting hard to find  That engine will probably have .020 over sized bearing also that I am not a fan of either. It would not surprise me in the least that block is junk now with cracks in the main bearing web

She got my airline tickets today.  I'll fly out Friday afternoon.  I got what I hope is all the parts needed.  :)  I've got everything to replace a kit and all the gaskets for the job.

If anyone wants to,come out and help or just hang out while I'm working you are welcome.  The plan it to drive it to San Diego Sunday evening.  Let's hope it goes to plan.

I don't think you're fixing the real problem but the truth is, you can't ... if you know what I mean ...

Yes the linkage between the seat and steering wheel has caused all the problems.  She don't drive it.  She hires people and they don't have experience with 2 strokes and most always it's someone new. they never really get a feel for it or know how to see, feel, or hear issues coming up.  They just drive it like a car that has no limitations.  Put in D and go 75 mph and never look back..... Hopefully this band aide repair will get her another month of operation. It's a 2k gamble.  She's got a donation page up for some help with the expense... She is got quite a following of fans that like to help.  When I worked on the bus in Houston my bill was almost 2k. One of her volunteers paid me.  She didn't ask, they just came to me and said they were paying the bill.  It's pretty amazing to have support like that.

I have a super sensitive nose to smells.  I can't even tell there is one cat in that bus. Crazy but it don't smell like cats.  They are well cared for, clean, and well "super cats" as they are more trained than 99% of dogs.

They do look really really well groomed in the videos. And well behaved too!

Every night , while we pets the dogs, my cats and I have a beer.  One happy family, but Nacho (kitty from hell) says we ought to get rid of the dogs. ;D

Ok I was wrong.    It didnt smell like cat when it was cool and really air was running but I just got to the bus tonight and it's been baking in the 90 deg sunny day and It really smells like cat.  The cats are not on the bus they are staying elsewhere but either they didn't clean out all the litter boxes or it's just the heat that baked it out.   I'm going to stay in a hotel rather than on the bus. Whew it's still like 120 in the bus

Here is a little update.   This thing is junk.  A band aide repair would be replacing 3 kits not just the one.  Check out this piston.
