Just saw on the Yuma craiglist that there is a 1976 Crown 40' for sale for $500.  Have gone by it many times, but it is in the back of a large locked lot so have never stopped. It hasn't moved in 5 years.
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

White roof or yellow?  Could you tell if it had flat front windshields or curved?  My old Crown was a 1974.

It's a 35', not a 40' which would have been a tandem (three axle) in the 1970's  -  2-axle 40' Crowns (like mine) came along later.   The ad says it has a 6-71 (turbo?) and a 5-speed Allison 740, so I guess the 2nd gear converter-to-lockup has fooled the owner into thinking it's a 5-speed.   Being in Yuma, there's probably no rust.   For $500 or less, it's worth it for parts alone.   My friend has a 1955 tandem, the first 3-axle Crown, with a seized Cummins, so maybe he could buy it for the engine  -  he loves old Detroits!
