Broken cable on 1980 Mci 5

In owners manual they just mention replacing the spring. Does the Cargo bay spring and the cable come as one unit . If not what is trick in getting it apart.

Take the two pulleys off. Take the spring retainer in the center off. Attach a rope to one end and pull the cable on the other end. Extract the spring through
the hole and the other cable. The rope is to be used to re-install. Cable is screwed into the spring with a special fitting. Buy the proper replacement cable
and it will go back together in reverse order.
