My Penguin II bit the dust again it's under warranty but changing these things every year is starting to piss me off.
Here is the question are any of you using the Coleman Mach 8 low profile they make a true 15,000 btu not a soup up 13,500 like the Penquin II. The dealer says they are better and draw less amps and will replace the Penguin II for 65.00 dollars difference I guess that is for the upper housing I don't know for sure.
I am just looking for information from users of the Coleman, these sell pitches I don't put much faith in.

Great, I was looking to get a couple of those. What is the cause of their demise?

I do not know about the low profile ones.  My high hat Colemans are ancient and keep on going.  Maybe that says something about the manufacturer, but when I was shopping for my new shrouds, one source intimated that newer units just don't last as long.  However, less than one year seems ridiculous. I think that the 15000 BTU unit is the way to go at least for the front unit.  We would find it way too much for the bedroom though.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Her Trek just has 1 AC unit Lin the old Penguin was 17 years old before it threw craps fwiw and cooled great. The 1st II the compressor failed in 2 months and never cooled right drawing 21.1 amps, they replaced it free of charge the complete unit, then the second unit failed because of broken freon line again replaced the unit free of charge and I think the same has happen to this one but not sure.

I can't complain about their warranty it's no hassle, the dealers want a little cash to replace it so I do my own and he checks it

I never been happy with the cooling and the fact I was told they were 3 speed fans like the older units and it's only a 2 speed fan, plus you need a different upper unit for the II that cost $$$ which they forgot to mention

I have decided to go with the Mach 8, it cannot be any worse than the Mexican made Penguin II lol I may be wrong but the dealer says "try it you will like it" did you ever hear that before
