Rick,

Unfortunately that is the new normal. Before I could drive my new (used) bus home from Phoenix last Thanksgiving I had to buy all new tires for my Eagle 08 Suburban.  Fortunately the previous owner recommended a great place just down the road from his house.  I went to Purcell Tire and they not only gave me a great price of $572 per tire, which added up to $745 out the door with all of the extra fees such as Balancing, Shop Materials, Waste Tire Fees, and for a total of $4473.  I bought six Hankook 315/80R22.5 tires. But for that price they also took the three decent tires off my Eagle and replaced the three worst tires on my MCI-9 as well as balancing them so I felt they treated me right. A buddy of mine and I drove my MC-9 down to pick up my new bus and we took turns driving the Eagle back to Anaheim. So it worked out well that I had both of my buses there at the same time.

Not only that but I arrived at 4:30 PM and they had no other work going on and were getting ready to close but they put five guys on the job and I was out the door by closing time at 5:30.  It has been a long time since I have had excellent service like this. These guys were great to work with and I have been around garages enough in my life to know good service from bad service.

If you have plans to travel through Phoenix, I highly recommend giving them a call to ask them to quote you a price. Their contact information is Purcell Tire and Service Center, 2310 W. McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85009. (602) 252-3500.

Whoa!!! So glad I'm not in a place or situation where that sounds like a good price.

Go, Gary.

Wanted American made tires if possible and local truck shop I deal with for work said they could get me a set of 315 Daytons for $450 each including FET. Tires came in and they were some Chinese brand in the wrong size. They reordered from their tire guy, 2 weeks later they show up. I went to get them and they were Dayton all position on off road. Looked like something for a dump truck. I refused them and they tried again. When they called their tire guy he said the Firestone  steers (not sure what model) would be $600 each. I told them forget it and called my buddy that runs maintenance at the local beer distributor and  he got me Toyo M144 for $500 each including FET.

The Toyo M144 are excellent tires.  I have 6 years on mine already and they are wearing great.

Good to hear Brian, that's the same thing my buddy said. They run them on the trucks at his work. They look great. I will be installing them tomorrow.
