Wacky... No claims, no problems and out of the blue a message from progressive saying they're canceling my rv insurance. Looks like I'm hunting for a new insurance company. Like I did to state farm when they messed me about the same way, I'll take all my policies away from progressive.

I had a company car for a number of years (we're talking 15 years ago).   Then I got "retired" so I bought a car; moved to my hometown to be with aging parents, went to the man who bought my grandfather's insurance agency when he passed away and got insurance on my car.  OK, then 7 months later, Progressive wrote me a letter "we're dropping your coverage because you don't have proof of previous coverage and we don't know who you are".  Ummm, I don't have proof of previous coverage because I didn't *have* previous coverage -- for a reasonable and valid reason.  And you don't know who I am???  My family had (and still carried) insurance through that agency for 60 years and I had coverage with them for 30 (granted, there had been a break of a couple of decades)?
Yep, one turn of the little chrome handle and Flo and all her friends went right down the tubes.  Went on-line and got Nationwide - that didn't work out great, either, but it was a port in the storm.  (This was pre-bus.)

I have had mine through Nationwide for several years. A few years they changed the RV and cycles to a subsidiary. Still billed by Nationwide, just different policy numbers. My parents used State Farm on their house car, motorhome , and finally bus conversion since the 50's

After I had had Nationwide for about 4 years, they sent me a letter "no more insurance for RV's in NC because of rulings by the NC State Insurance dept."  I wrote them, it's on my policy with my house and my car.  They wrote back - no more RV insurance in NC.  Period.  I guess they had to do it; I hope that they understood I had to pull ALL my insurance policies from Nationwide.

I started with progressive in January after state farm uninsured me. I took all of my policies with me. I have a Carpenter 3800

I left progressive after the agent told me they will not honor stated value, they will charge extra and sale it to you but will not pay off in case of a total accident,,,,,according to their agent, went elsewhere

The insurance industries in my opinion are not nice in general and the higher up you go, the less nice they become.  They also have a very powerful political lobbying group.  Just who do you think rammed mandated automotive, (and Bus Conversions?) insurance down our unwanted throats to begin with?  Think it through.  Kinda scary for sure.  Ever wonder why we had no say so?

It gets worse.  Somehow, some way, they also have conned the TAX PAYERS to prop up very expensive and in my opinion, (again!) mostly unnecessary nation wide paid agency fire departments to prop up huge profits in the fire insurance industry scam.   In my view, pretty much all insurance is a sucker bet, but again, that is just me.  Rant over.  HB of CJ (old coot) retarded ex firefighter.

I think that Google has just started a site that compares auto insurance prices.  It might be worth a look.

Progressive is an education, I have a 2004 Ford F150 titled in Montana, I live in Va, Progressive wants $1,200.00 year for basic coverage, so went with Gieco, $350.00 Same Coverage. So I have noting good to say about Progressive and their ways.  One needs to dig into the ownership of Progressive, Large shock for a red blooded American.
