If anyone is interested I will write a "primer" on how a typical DD-3 based bus air brake system works.  It will be based on my 1980 vintage MCI, but should be applicable to most similar DD-3 based brake systems.

I would be very interested. Many other bus nuts have '70s and '80s MCIs with DD3s. Didn't you rebuild yours? You could write about that too.

   Hi all;
      I too would be interested.  I believe my DD-3s are leaking now and
      some info would help.     (70 MC-7)

    GM covers it pretty well in their coach service manual, but any and all info is welcomed.

Hey Brian,

I'd be interested in reading that. Thanks for adding to the knowledge base.

It's posted as a separate topic.  I didn't rebuild my DD-3's, I took them apart, they were totally trashed (although still working, I have no idea how) and I bought new ones.  To me, a big issue with just replacing diaphragms in a DD-3 is the locking port mechanism can be total junk and just waiting to fail, and if you take it apart it basically never goes back together, after a certain age it just disintegrates.
