To Fin or not to Fin (air cleaner elements)

I suppose I could call Donaldson, (or I should probably already know)
What is the reason for the fins on a typical P182001 vs (P182000)....

       

Which would you choose ?

Use whichever fits in your air cleaner can. The fins are used in more dusty situations to better swirl the air over the element. We typically don't encounter that kind of conditions. I would use the non fin element.

Just remember-NEVER blow out an air cleaner element with the idea of getting a bit more service out of it. Blowing it out can create micro holes in the element allowing dirt in. Considering a air cleaner element is less then $100, just get a fresh new element when you think it is dirty. Air cleaners with paper elements are always the best when new. Good Luck, TomC
