A few years ago in an attempt to stop the leaks I took the pan off the engine to clean it and put on new gaskets. At the same time I cleaned up everything that had oil on it. My next trip was a long one from Canada to California so I set out and the first stop was a rest stop and I decided to check the oil. It was dark and I pulled the dipstick out and couldn"t see ANY oil on it. I just about had a heart attack. Here I was going 1500 miles and 50 miles from home there was no oil. Of course what happened is the oil was still pretty clean and in the poor lighting I couldn't see it on the dipstick.

Maybe there is some sort of black dye that can be used to avert such a problem.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

LOL yup just doesn't seem right having this problem but I'm sure the black dye will come with different oil.
