You may already know of this one I found in Albany Georgia today.

I wanted to go to the museum to learn more history, and then saw this in a pamphlet in the hotel.  Unfortunately I am here on business, and the museum closes at 4 and I won't be able to get there this trip.  Maybe someone else in the area can check it out who is nearby.  From the picture, it looks like the whole bus may be in there!

Pabusnut,

Thanks for the info, I did not know about this museum. I have submited a contact request on their website. But I am learning more and more the PD 4104's made a mark in Civil Rights movement . In fact the 4104 that starred in The Shawshank Redemption and Selma  is now owned by The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture at Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL.  I was contacted by them earlier this week looking for a place that can make repairs to their bus.

Pabusnut and everyone else,

From a bit of info, sometimes you get a lot.

About 30 years ago a bus company sold the front 1/3 of an old Trailways PD 4104-2023  to the Civil rights museum.  The museum then did a controlled burn on that body of the bus to make it look right for the display. Afterwards they painted it in Greyhound colors for their Freedom Riders display. I have photos but they are the wrong format to be posted here. If you want to see what the front 1/3  of the 4104 looks like before and after, shoot me an email.

If you are in the dark about what the Freedom Riders were here is a link, I was born in 1959 and did not ever hear about this, until I started this 4104 project.

There is one just outside of Asheville N C on the Marshall highway in Alexander .It is in a fenced area and looks like it is being cannibalized for parts.I know that two left side bin doors are gone.Where are the serial numbers on these things? If I can get close enough to it without getting shot ,I will see if I can find it .

The tool door outside and under the drivers window. Open the door and the number is stamped on the frame. Will appear 4104-xxxx.
