An elusive 4104 has finally been caught on film in Mexico. English John was the first one to tell me about a 4104 still in revenue service in Mexico over 5 years ago. . Well yesterday a photo of this bus was posted on Facebook.  Trying to get permission from the poster to share a photo of the coach here.

In addition to the 4104 I saw in Aguascalientes, looking very small in the main bus station there next to all the double-deckers and Volvo 9700s and other modern buses, I also saw a Cummins-engined three-axle Sultana in the wilds of remote mountainous Veracruz state still in revenue service, and an Eagle complete with a healthy-sounding unmuffled 8V71 leaving Tijuana early one morning with a full load of passengers.   There was also a succession of newer DINAs with 6V92s leaving Mexico City's southern bus terminal one day when I was there, and a Flxible-copy DINA Olimpico also in Veracruz state, all these older buses with six- or seven-speed manual transmissions and often sounding like they have straight pipes.   So, if you want to see, hear, and maybe even travel in, a bus that in this country would be preserved or converted, then they're still out on the road in that wonderful amazing country south of the border.   Yeah!

Awesome Jon! About 12% of the almost 70 year old original 4104 fleet is still on the road...   8)

Cool pic Jon. How did you get that photo? I wonder if they have any info about 4501s in Cuba? Thanks

Tom,

I have a Cuban friend that is still in contact with fellow bus nuts in Cuba. I will pose the question,  photos are nearly impossible to get out of the country and I am going on a year waiting for this 4104's serial number.
