Painting rear wheels

I am painting my wheels, I want to do a mediocur job. Not remove, dismount, sandblast ect. I do need to sand the wheels. Can I jack and support the rear of the bus and use the motor to turn the wheels? Would this harm the transmisssion, rear end, ect?

Can do that as long as the differntial is not a limited slip type (which is made for the big differentials).  Just jack up the one drive wheel and block every other wheel front and back.  Start the engine and put it into gear with the brakes on.  Then slowly release the brakes and if the one wheel starts to turn, your alright. If the bus wants to move, then you'll have to raise both sides.  If only one wheel turns, don't be surprised if you hear alot of clunking coming from the differential.  Sometimes they just make alot of noise.  If the wheel is jerking while spinning, maybe a differential rebuild is needed.  As always, safety first.  While doing this, it would be best to have someone in the drivers seat ready to apply the brakes or just plainly turn it off if something happens.  Good Luck, TomC

Coarse Bristle wire wheel in an air die grinder to knock off the nasty stuff.
Then 80 grit sand paper or sanding sponges from Harbor Freight...

That's just one of the ways, Then rustoleum in a spray can....
