I bought a set of air horns at an auction Saturday.  They have a lever pull which I want to change out to an 12v electric air solenoid valve so I can just use my horn button.  My question is, do I need to regulate the air pressure down because I tried them out and they will blow full volume with about 10-15psi.  I don't know what they will do at 120psi :o

I have 2 pair of air horns and a train whistle. I run both horns and whistle at full operating pressure, 115-125 PSI.  I control the air horns with 12 volt solenoids and a ball vale to control the train whistle.  Jack

We run ours at about the same as Jack. we have a 12v button on the floor. I just move my heel over and hit it when needed.

Got her done.  Used an old air line from the air wipers that I capped off during the conversion.  Bought a 12v air solenoid from Grainger $71 :o and wired them to the horn button.  She blows louuud ;D

I use the lever to run my air horns because that way you can control the volume-- the cord for the air horn lever dangles from the front ceiling like in a truck.  It makes you look like a professional when you can slowly increase or decrease the blasting sound you get at full volume.
