R6 relay valve replacement

The R6 valve, Midland 279180X,  on the Eagle, spring brakes, is leaking when the park brake is released.  So the question is,  should we just replace it, rebuild it, or upgrade the valve to an anti-compounding system. Taking it apart and checking for possible dirt just made it worse.  It looks new,  but is is really leaking after our fixing it.

The short answer is just go buy a new one and call it done.

The core has to be good enough to put a kit into it, and you need experience to know whether the core is suitable, and the time to fool with it plus the kit makes the choice clear, just get a new one.

There's too much work needed done to any coach, and not enough time, to be screwing around risking rebuilding valves that then don't work properly or keep leaking.

As for your upgrade question, your use of the anti-compounding concept doesn't make sense to me.

I would expect that anti-compounding is already designed into your system, so, who knows?

His Eagle didn't come equipped with spring brakes it has been converted to springs no telling what he has

Difficult to diagnose and design via the internet.

Doubly so one-off retrofits.

But, do you have a schematic of what was done?

We are trying to fix this without undoing all those lines.  This will be a real bear without a pit.  So far, we have had real bad luck with getting those old compression fittings to reseat. We sure don't want to change all those line fittings.

A bad diagram in 1 of the spring brake can will give you the leak as you have.
