Sean:
With regard to your dilemma about overnight parking in Atlanta, enroute to Chattanooga:
Tried to post this as a comment on your site, but it wouldn't take. (I have a squirrelly laptop).

Anyway:

Checked with a MARTA rep: the gate width clearance at these two ground lots is 9 feet 8 inches, but sleeping in a vehicle is prohibited. Also, these are not the best of neighborhoods, as mentioned by others.
If the Ashford Dunwoody WalMart permits RVs, stay there and borrow my truck for your errands - I live 10-15 mins away. This northside location is safer, and a few miles closer to I-75 and the Chattanooga rally.

Mike,
That's truly a generous offer!
I took the liberty to copy and email it directly to them so they might see it sooner in order to make plans.

I also have access to a flat lot where they could overnight in the northern Atlanta suburbs.

Thanks.  How far is it from MARTA?  I need to drop Louise off at 5:50 to catch the first train.

We came to Dunwoody, but the Wal-Mart is posted No Overnight Parking and everything around here appears to be owned by the same RV-unfriendly outfit.

A hair over 15 miles to the North Springs MARTA Station.  That time of morning it would take less than 25 minutes. The lot is less than 2 miles off GA 400 at Exit 12.

I'll be up at the rally tomorrow.  We can talk more if you are interested.

Only need it tonight.

We are going to try to make it overnight under the radar here.  If they boot me out in the middle of the night I will head down to College Park; the Wal-Mart there is 15 minutes from the airport.

Thanks everyone.

My practice in those situations Sean is to keep a glass of beer handy.  In the event of an attempted night time eviction I intend to say "OK osshifer washever you wantsh but I don't shink ish a real good idea" all accompanied by beer breath of course.  So far the circumstance has never arisen.

Its the last thing but its still on the list.

Melbo

Bob I'm surprised you would suggest such a thing. I would think that you would invite the officer in for a spot of scotch while you let the bus "air up" so you can move to better environs.

Sorry but this can net a DWI arrest.....even if the keys are not in the ignition....

oh balderdash.  what normal judge, jury or cop would issue or sustain a ticket for dwi for a sitting in the parking lot bus, having a beer, while staying the night?   :o  That's got to be right up there with the probability of getting hit by space junk  ;D.

i'd take my chances in the lot Sean, i'm with Bob and Melbo, altho more with Melbo.  i prefer Scotch, but Yingling amber ale is pretty good.

I'm pretty sure Sean has bent some rules on staying overnite before, tho probably not with Bob's method in mind.

Mountaire and tyson all here on the shore  they were the go to guys for bearings ) local branch has closed, called 800# and they were just not interested in even trying  to help. best of luck...............

You try it then....I know people who have been given DWI's for being in a parked car and blowing a .08 now if a cop wants to and you step out and he makes you blow your going to jail just that simple.
after your sloppy drunk play ...yesh yoush ....and a sloshy scotch mouth wash you can get more than you bargained for...oh thats right you only encounter the nice cops.
And yeah i'm 746 posts from being taken serious.

i would take my chances too but i wouldn't play a BS scam.
