How to clean the bottom?

What are some good ways to clean the underside of the engine area on a bus. There is quite a lot of grease, grunge, ect.

Yep steam is the best way most rental stores have a steam unit

I get engine bright or a comparible spray foam and spray it all over the engine.  Let it sit for a while and then wash it off.  If it is caked on build up then I use the pressure washer to get in there and blast it off.

I think the biggest problem you'll face is getting under the bus with the cleaner of your choice...
No matter how you attack it this will be a very messy job.

I did it once when I first got my bus.
I ran the bus up on ramps and connected an air hose to the system to keep it aired up. I used "Purple Power" degreaser and a pump up sprayer to soak the underside. I let it set for a few hours and then applied a second coating of degreaser and then a third. 

I took a long handle push broom and attached small wheels on both ends of the broom head, then attached my water hose and nozzle to the broom so the nozzle pointed up. Using this modified  broom I was able to spray water up under the bus without getting under there with it. Rolling it back and forth - side to side it managed to clean quite a bit of the grunge off.

I still got sprayed a couple of times but after the first time I put a full face shield on for better protection...

Most all the major truck stops will steam clean that for you for around 50 bucks and you don't even get nasty lol
