What would be a conservative guess for a price of a used Jake Brake for a Detroit 671?

What would a reasonable install price be?

Thanks,

Dave

All depends on the setup you want good guess would be around 1000 + if you can find a valve cover for 6-71 or if you have a 2 valve head finding the valve caps and if you want a fast idle that will cost you dearly I found you can install a King cruise control cheaper than the fast idle switch from DD ( 700  bucks)

good

Thanks for asking Uncle Ned, the bus is at Gene's now. We left it there for him to work on at his own time and convenience, in hopes that will help the bill when he gets to it. I am sure he is going to do a fantastic job.

We left Sunday morning and drove to Gainesville, Fl and got there about mid-afternoon. I had tried to get the generator going but it never would co-operate so we had to go with no A/C while on the road. Of course as soon as we plugged in I had both A/C's lit up and you could hang beef up in the bus in an hours time. It was raining a little but we still managed to get a little time in the pool had a few adult beverages, made a nice dinner and collapsed in front of the tv for the rest of the night.

Pulled out around 9:30am and headed for Macon, GA. we got into a lot of rain and squeegee part of my one wiper broke off from all the use so I had to go really slow and pull over some times. We got to Macon about 4pm, couldn't find the campground we had called, and wasn't going to wander around in the rain. We found one along side the highway, pulled in and it was reasonable. We cooked, drank and collapsed again. Not having A/C when you are on the road takes a lot out of you. They only had 30 amp service so we had to watch what we were using at the campsite, but we "gotterdone"

Puled out again about 9am Tuesday morning and started into some of the prettiest countryside I've seen in a long time. As we were getting close and could see the Blue Ridge Mountains on the horizon I was worried we would have to climb one, because the bus was starting to get warm and the temp gauge was creeping toward 100 degrees. I kept an even pace and as I realized that we didn't have to go up any really big grades, I noticed that the outside temperature was going down a little and so was the engine temp. I felt more relieved then and we continued on. We got to Gene's about 4pm and the first thing he did was get us into the office to cool down in the AC. He could tell we were roasted.

We took Gene and his wife to dinner and when they came to pick us up Gene took us for the "Grand Tour" . It is actually "Silversides Heaven" WOW! what a collection of interesting things he has there.

We spent the night hooked up to his shop electric. Got up in the morning and Gene's wife drove us to the airport, that's when I saw some grades that I was glad we didn't have to drive over. That's when I realized that Jake would come in handy and so would a good misting system on the radiator.

So we are home now, the bus is in Gene's hands with our wish list and when he's ready we'll go get it. It was a fun trip, our short vacation for the year. ($400 in fuel one way.....ouch)
