Well now seem the clearence lights are acting up. I notice the in the front flashing while the in the back were completely out. Then the next day all the clearence lights worked and I had a brake light out.  I have become a lifetime member of the MCI Blues Club   Where do I start my search?

Almost always, when lights are doing strange things, it is bad grounds

OK a bad ground ?  where on the light or someplace else the light were working fine when when in to the shop for the engine work could they have grounded something on the engine or is a ground on the lights

On my MCI the clearance lights have two wires to each one, hot and ground.  That means there has to be a common ground point somewhere, I have no idea where.  But it's a clue at least!

I plan to replace all mine with LED's sometime.  I have been looking at vehicles on the highway, I see a lot with little tiny clearance lights.  I may make up cover plates with little tiny LED lights in the middle of them, to fill in the big hole that the original lights leave behind.

Think I would go in the boxes where the relays are and check tightness of ground post there first. Look for corrosion also. Weak breakers can also cause problems also(ones that have been overheated by being grounded out to often). Listen for clicking noise if lights are cycling on and off.
