Is My Water Pump Going?

When we turn on the taps, our water pump is much noiser than usual.  It sounds like it's vibrating, in fact so much that the kitchen tap "pulses" water rather than an even flow.  Everything seems to work fine, we get good water pressure otherwise.  Any experience with this?

Clean the strainer on the tap

Do you also have a strainer in the pump's inlet?   These can easily get clogged with sediment from the tank, or even with residual pipe thread tape or compound from when the plumbing was first put together years before.

I don't profess to be the worlds' greatest plumber, (giving the Devil his due at Arcadia a few years ago when Jack Conrad shared with the world that the blockage from my black water tank was a shipping plug I didn't remove before  hooking up the sewer hose) ???! But...

If there's a lack of pressure in all the faucets, shower and the head..chances are that somewhere in your system you have particles of dirt, rust of something impeding the flow fro, your pump.

Does it happen when you're connected to an outside source of water? Could it be the bladder in your surge tank is bad and not allowing the system to maintain pressure without the pump cycling too often?

You might have to remove all the aerators from your faucets and clean them up. Then try the water again to see if you get a better flow.

Ah! The joys of Busin'!
