Dear Friends:

I managed to step on a burried ground rod in our garden with bare feet. I made a large hole in the bottom of my foot. I went to see our doctor, and got thoroughly chewed out. You see, my lasr tetanus shot was in 1989!

So just a friendly reminder before you before you begin working on that rusty bus. . .  When was YOUR last shot?

Bare feet!  I thought the Ministry of Workplace Safety insists on flip flops for all Mexican construction sites. ;).  At least that has been what I have seen on most Mexican work sites.
Maybe get some steel toed flip flops.

Actually, this accident occured when I was assembling and filling the plastic swimming pool for the grandkids.

Altho you make a good point, I tend to swing the other way. Doing what i do leads to MANY cuts, laserations, etc. Heck, yesterday, while working on the bathroom in the bus, I cut both index fingers!! (Makes it darn hard to pick my nose!!  :D) One on the sharp edge of the linoleum I just cut and the other one I stuck in my vertical band saw. That was a dandy. Whenever the Doc asks when my last booster was, it's always the same -"oh, just a couple years ago".  ::) ::) ::) Sorry, I just absolutely HATE needles! Plus, peroxide and Porter's liniment have done wonders. I'm not a fan on shoving "stuff" in me on the possibility I might need it. BUT, that's not to say the conventional wisdom isn't a bad idea.  ;)

When I was a kid about half a century ago every time I got a little scratch the doctor wanted to give me a booster, I think he got a commission or something on the stuff. Awhile back I was reading something that led me to believe that rust in and of itself is not bad for you but it is the junk that might be on the rusted thing that is bad. The example was a rusty nail sticking up out in the yard that the chickens and dogs have been treating with urine to make it rust, this is what the shot fixes. If your bus is anything like mine was as far as human filth and grime there is no telling what might be on there to get in a cut. It is actually more revulsive that the chickens and dog thing.
Be careful out there!

Ouch!!! I'm glad you are ok and probably more watchful as a result. Typical though where the doctor(who you pay) yells at you.

Actually, Crabby: The doctor is a great friend and a member of our central congregation, and has the bad habit of never charging me.

Yeah I guess given a choice of payment or getting yelled at it's no contest.
