My GMC fishbowl has rubber and I am thinking about changing to metal next time. Can someone here tell me how to do this?
Thanks!

We did the change on our 4107.  It was really easy, compared to the rubber ones.  Just remember to rip out one side at a time. Never have to change them again and the doors line up a lot better.

I just did the doors that had been problematic on my 4903. I alsowent to the struts for
lifts instead of springs. WORKED fantastic. better alignment, easier to open and close. Just very pleased with application. Call Ed Gallant 8282483087. Very helpful person. I am ordering for other bus today.

I just threw a couple of comments on that older linked post if anyone is interested. :)

Thanks for the info but that is not what I am looking for. The radiator door on my bus was at some time replaced with an aluminum piano hinge, full length. The tracks seem to have been removed. I cannot figure out how it was done without cutting it apart. I saw another GMC this past weekend with this setup on all of the bay doors but could not find the owner to get permission to autopsy.
Thanks again!

So on yours the hinge has screws in the holes to hold it on?

No, I think the hinge flange was bent like the steel one shown and driven into the slot. There are not any fastners visible. This is what makes it cool.

It should be the same on the other side then too.  Both bent over and each one driven into the track/channel/slot or whatever else you want to call it on the door and the bus body. :)
