I think that thread was headed in the wrong direction.  Off topic doesn't mean/include bad conduct.  We all need the steadying hand of good judgement once in awhile. Certainly I do. The judicious and minimal control you guys effect keeps this place on an even keel and we all benefit.  I meant it when I said "thanks".

I have to agree luvrbus. I really didn't see the thread going that bad. If it was bad in the end, then it should have been locked at the beginning when it was intended to smear Palin. Most if not all of the people are just picking with one another.

As mentioned, the area is titled "Off Topic", not "Free for All".  A lot of forums straight out ban politics.  There is one forum where if you even mention the word congress your post will either get deleted or the thread locked.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.....go to a political board to involve yourself in those emotionally charged and divisive discussions.  Sorta a Church and State kinda judgement.  I get it...its "constitutional".

Maybe give that a vote here if the mgt thinks they need a consensus....which they don't actually.

I guarantee the pm feature on this board causes more problems and hard feelings that OT section lol I won't open a pm from here 95% of the time myself stopped several years after a friend sent me a email someone sent him from here.
I still like Ian's approach have at it guys you have 1 day then it goes away delete it if you don't like someones post don't lock it down hell it doesn't make me mad when somebody calls us on the right Nazi's I find it very funny lol

I have never had any issues with anyone pm or otherwise on this forum. It's funny when I read some of the post by the people that are thankful the other thread was closed... their post are the most disparaging of all of them.

I come here for the bus talk.. not the political banter. It's fun to exchange ideas and try to understand other folks points of view... but some folks just want to be odious and malicious for the fun of it.

Just for the record, the PD4106 is the best bus ever made... yes I said EVER.

I see the All Topics section here as for serious, bus/rv/mechanical information.  Off Topic is for everything else.  As mentioned to Mike in a PM, it is more for entertainment and banter.  There should be some limits of civility, but I would only apply that to other members.  All public figures, both living and dead, are fair game though.  I certainly am guilty of making some very nasty statements, but never about the members here whom I consider to be real people.  Public figures are not.  They are like inflatable punching bags; it doesn't matter how much you hit them, they still bounce back smiling.
