Kyle we are putting in a bid on some land in Palmyra Tn. South of Clarksville and 24, north of 40.  Went down Friday and took a look. I think that is within an hour or so from you?

The property taxes for a year on 41/2 acre are less than we pay for 1 month now for 1/8 acre and the state personal income tax will go down from 6% in Ill. to ZIP in Tenn. :D

Wish us luck.
Signing off from Cook County Ill. where the dead vote, frequently.

I have to say that outside of Missouri Tennessee was one of my favorite places to live and I miss it terribly. I don't know how far you are away from Tullahoma or Manchester but that was a great time in my life and was a great place. I play banjo and was always playing when i lived there.  Loved Nashville and drooled everytime I walked into Gruhn Guitars. I think that anyone making a move to Tenn is making a great decision for a great life. Mike.

What is the average salary of a driver.  I am lookingfor a weekend job when I get home to drive motorcoach. I have the lisence to drive  Class B with airbrake and passenger and schoolbus.  Thanks Mike.

It varies from company to company by region.
In our area they usually get $100-150 a day or .30 cents a mile with a guarantee of like $100 for driving & $75 a day for layover. (again depending on who ya work for, our drivers get $140 a day everyday they are on a trip)

HOLY BATMAN!!!! That is a decent pay!!!  I don't know how bus companies stay in business  I mean I wish I had like 100s of buses huge fleet.  But I start to think of the overhead it must be a bear to keep it going.  From my side of the fence it seems so I don't know,,,,, awesome.. but from your side of the fence you must go through a lot of Zanteck.   Is it a good job are bus companies nice and supportive or is it like a trucking company nasty high stress?

I love transits I really do especially the RTS and the Flxible Newlooks.  But I really want just one motorcoach. I would be so grateful to find an MC9  I loved them as a kid and remember riding one to NYC from Hopewell JCT NY Leprechan (sp?) lines  Too lazy to check spelling. I remember the green floor and the slilver sides. when you were riding school buses the typical yellow and black floor. Then when I got on that MC9 seeing the gleeming green floor and the shiney body I fell in love with that bus an MCI MC9.  I really want one.  I know I can walk in one of those and have space above my head to not feel the usual brushing of my hair as I pass a low clearance.

Back on topic; this Bus looks like one that was for sale in Fla for quite a while. Wonder if its the same Bus, different owner/seller.

thebusqman

Nope, it was mine. This was the first time I tried to sell it. Its off to the scrap heap tomorrow  :'(

Well sorry to hear that. But gotta do what ya gotta do.
I had no idea if the owner was a member here or not. But I did try to bring some attn. to it so that maybe some of the "thrifty" busnut wannabes shopping for a coach would be able to see it.

Thats really to bad, it looks like it could be a good start for someone. I always wanted a 4107, but we didnt think it had much chance of climbing my driveway so I looked at other models and ended up with an MC5.

If you could hold off scraping it, perhaps give it a few days here to give someone a chance? We can see it didnt meet your reserve, what do you have to have for it? Always sad to see one of these things go down if there is still any life left.

Just a heads up on scraping a Bus. On a GMC like that there is really only about 2000 pounds of aluminum, and scrap yards will generally consider it dirty aluminum which will net less than $500. Everyone thinks there is 20000 pounds of aluminum and see the price of pop cans and get excited, but they forget it has 5000 pounds of axles under it, 3500 pounds of engine/gearbox, over a ton of glass, 100's of pounds of insulation, wood, iron frames, interior paneling, hoses and lines, etc.. Its not the big gold mine many think and its dirty, hard, back breaking work taking one apart. If your smart, sell off the driveline while someone can still see it run, part out some of the big components like doors etc., and sell (or give away) the shell to someone who thinks they see gold.
