Does anybody know the official way the vin number on an Eagle appears.  We are trying to get the insurance in place for our new Eagle, if all goes right, in place before we get there to purchase it.  DMV seems to think that a four didget number is too small.  The old Texas title just has four numbers.

If it is a 01 or 05 made in Belgium 4 numbers are you are going to get Brownsville 05 Eagles from 74 to 80 had a 19000 to 20000 serial number if you need help check the Eagles board and the info is there for your bus

you didn't say the year on the older coaches they would use the 4107plus the 4 digets as vin #

Eagle never did that on older buses made in Belgium 4 numbers that's all welded on the frame on the passengers side at the bottom above the bumper or a tag over the drivers area he is ok  but I would like to know the 4 numbers if Don doesn't mind

Tell whoever it is at the DMV to get off their butt and earn the tax $ your paying their salary with & make a call or whatever they gotta do to learn that many older vehicle (prior to 1977) had short VIN's and it's been proven time and time again that these people are just too damn lazy to call or ask the right people about this on how to work around it!

Don has always wanted an Eagle.  We are leaving on Wednesday to pick it up.  Hope it is all it looks like.  The owners seem real honest and have all the records on it's maintenance.  Looks like our other two buses will be looking for new homes.

Clifford is right on. Ours is serial number 7443, Belgium built. I found our VIN number in several places, a stamped plate in the old A/C compartment, left side on the square tubing. Engine compartment, right had side square tubing, hand stamped. On the back of every piece of aluminum trim at the belt line on both sides of the coach and also hand written in what looks like a black felt pen, behind the electrical panel, next to the driver.

The Texas DOT had a fit it only had four numbers. But after the document I provided them from the California registration they seemed satisfied.

Good Luck on your new to you Eagle purchase! It's a great coach...... 8)

BK hit that one on the head. My local dmv had to call the state dmv office when I licensed my MCI. The vin # of the bus was already in use as a trailer. If I remember correctly they basically just added enough zero's to get to an 11 number vin. You know how the government can't have enough zeros!

My Brownsville M-10 was built 12/81 with a 5 digit serial number.  When I went to title the bus (Washington) the DOL said the serial no. was no good, not enough numbers.  I had to take it to the WSP for a VIN inspection.  I showed them the data plate and stamp in the engine compartment.  They installed a new state VIN plate in the LF service compartment.  Guess what the number was; the same 5 digit serial number.  Charged me a big fee for the joy of it all. They also confiscated my factory data plate.  I threw a big fit at that one and the guy finally gave it back to me.  Government at it's best.

I looked at a 1979 05/10 Eagle one time the serial number was 20160 for the 05 and 20170 for the 10 had both serial numbers on the frame it was actually changed at the factory to a 10  strange to say the least

Any idea as to what the vin number means?  The number, 9142, is larger than the number of buses made in the 05 series.  I guess there must be some code in there.  Our GM has a plate with the year, model, and the serial number.  Does the Eagles have one somewhere?

There is no code in the serial number that started later on the model 10 I can tell you your bus came over with a 277 hp  8v71, 4 speed manual transmission and no power steering here is the FLT number 29548 it tells you what month, day and the number built on that order no need to worry 4 numbers is all you get lol
