Well I removed the bathroom,  chore but not to horrible.  But I can't get the tank out.  It was mounted with 2 straps that angled towards the front of the bus.  Those came out ok.  Water lines off, etc.  With the diagonal straps loose the tank moves for and aft about 3/4 of an inch.  Are there bolts at the front of the tank?   If so how in the world do I get to them?  Using the search button came up with an explosives kit but I"ll save that as a last resort.  John M.

There were bolts under insulation if I remember right. You need to cut around the top. I used a 4" grinder and cut off wheel to cut mine. The link below is from Craig's site and was very useful for me and many others doing this sh***Y job.

Thanks John.  In fact studied his site before I started on this wonderful job.  Great site.  Only thing it did not cover was the holding tank.  I must have missed some bolts somewhere, but I can't see them. John M.

I missed mine too. I got a BFR on the tank and that led me to where the bolts are. I had a bar that is used to tamp fence post in the ground. So I mean BFR. I am from Townsend and have been in NV for about fourteen years and make it back to Helena and Townsend several times per year I will look you up next trip. That may be within next couple months.

I should be in the area.  I'm the only house by fox ridge golf course with a bus in the back yard. j

Got mine on the road last spring. Need to get more done but have taken winter off this year. I plan more work this spring. Get rough with that tank and do it before it gets too warm. Mine had some ice in it when I took it out. I was thinking solid was good!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL My neighbors were and are good about bus. Now it looks like a motor home and is missed when we are gone. I have a lot of comments about the neighborhood is not the same with it gone. I think it sat in one place too long.

Good luck

challenger..I don't remember any bolts at the front of the tank.. I busted all the fiberglass casing off and then cut the two straps completely off with my die grinder...removed all hose connections and pulled it out..

It looks like the straps are the only thing holding it in there.  But even with a big pry bar it only moves so far.  I'll climb in there again this afternoon and look around.  Maybe it has something to do with that fibrglass cover. jm

Jim,

Here is what you do. Take that fibreglass cover off of there. Just break that thing outa there. There should be a little bit of insulation behind that. Pull that down.

Now you should see the straps. You can cut those, with a grinder. I simply took the bolts out. I used my impact with a 1 foot extension, to back those bolts outa there. At this point, the tank might fall out. Be careful. Mine was still held in place by the big rubber fernco that connected the big pipe to the tank I cut mine outa there, and it simply dropped.

It really isn't hard.

God bless,

John

Got it!   Once I got the fiberglass cover off, the straps are obvious.  Unbolt and clunk, down it comes.   thanks everyone.  John M.
