At last year's April Southeast Bus Nuts Rally, our friend and stalwart member Brian Evans earned the award for having journeyed the farthest to get to this SC rally - Dundas, Ontario!
This year we're in the dark as to whether Bevan6 will be re-powered in time, or whether he plans a different sort of shake- down trip.
The rally is April 29-May 1, and is written up under the Rallies and Events section on this board.
If not Brian and Catherine, will anyone ever beat their 800+ miles (one way!)

Well, I won't be coming this year although last years trip is certainly a great memory for all three of us (including Sammie the cat, who loves going for bus rides...)

We are actually going to Nova Scotia in the last week of March, continuing the gradual movement of stuff down to what will be our retirement home.  Taking the truck, no trailer as the snow may still be deep there, hard to tell this time of year.  The current plan is for a trip to NS in May with the bus, Catherine and her mum are planning to spend the summer there.

The engine swap continues...  no particular problems, just lack of time and focus, really.  Current status is The old engine is stripped to the block front and rear, the front of the new engine has all the bus cooling system stuff installed (you have to strip the front of the engine to the block to change the thermostat housing, which was a fun job that I quite enjoyed).  I've spent the last three weekends building a gantry to hook a chain lift to, to lift the new engine out of it's shipping cradle and up on to four leg stands that bolt to the sides of the block, which I also had to fabricate.  I've burned 4 pounds of Mig wire...  Lest you think I'm a slacker, we also had to take care of Catherine's mum who tripped and put her knee out of action, so lots of driving back and forth lifting little old ladies...

Anyway, here's the new gantry, and a fuzzy picture of the new engine, on the stands.  Next job is to take the rear engine plate off to install the power steering pump accessory drive.  Then it all goes back together.  I have 6" of fresh snow in the driveway and the temp was below 0 F this morning, so it will be a while before I get it back in the bus.

To win the LD award, all you have to do is show up, in your bus, having put more miles and hence fuel in your bus than anyone else...  You could call it the high-dollar award...

Cheers, Brian

We'll miss you Brian!
Competition for the longest distance award is now declared wide-open! Could be that a Floridian or Virginian may take it?
Best of luck Brian on the re-power, and the re-lo to Nova Scotia!
