Hello Everyone,

I just received a phone call from (Steve Gains, AKA - Kentucky Steve's) wife.  Steve & Debbie are very good friends of many of us, (The four Amigo's in particular).  Steve had a heart attack last night and had to be revived using paddles from Emergency Crew.  Steve was taken to the emergency room and received a stint in one of his arteries, (90 % blockage).  He has another artery that needs repair soon  (about 80% blockage) but emergency repairs were done to Steve and he is doing quite well today.  He hopes to go home tomorrow, (Thanksgiving Day for sure for Steve & Debbie & us, the rest of his family).

Steve will probably be pissed at me for posting this information but I believe all our family should know when a member of our busnut family goes down for any reason and I know they can sure use well wishes & prayers from those of us that know them in particular.

If anything transpires concerning Steve I will update this post.  Please send get well wishes to him if you can, Steve is a top shelf person and his busconversion information has been helpfull to many of us.

Sorry for posting this Steve,  Hell No I ain't.  Good luck buddy.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving buddy, get well soon & QUIT SMOKING TOO!!

"Gary Lee" (one of the amigo's)

My prayers go out to Steve for a fast and complete recovery and to Debbie for strength during this and the recovery period.  And Steve, you better heed the docs and stop smoking because your close family and your extended bus family need you to be around for many years to come.

Mex-busnut and others concerned about Steve's recovery, here is a copy off Eagles International bb'd from him concerning his Heart Attack.  Thank you for all prayers for Steve as I know he is very thankful for being given another chance in life.

Here is Steve's response copied off Eagles International bb'd.

Thanks Guys,

I am doing good now. I have no ill effects as of now other than the mental trauma of the extended shock the paramedics gave me in my driveway. I can assure you that that is something you do not want to happen to you if you are conscious. I have to have another stint put in after Christmas and then all will be good. This has been coming on all year I was just ignoring the obvious and it nearly cost me my life. The problems with my heart are hereditary and I was told that smoking did not contribute to the problem even though I don't believe it myself. I had my last cigarette the day I had the attack. At this point I feel I have more energy than I have ever had. Matter of fact my doctor told me that I was all clear to do anything I wanted as long as I didn't lift more than 20 lbs the first few days being home. So as a true bus nut does I got home from the hospital yesterday at 1:00 or so and was working on the bus by 3:00.

Sorry I haven't been around the boards lately but work had taken me out of the picture this summer. I'd like to tell you about the months I had been working 120 hours a weeks but after reading this post you would be wanting to kick my butt as much as I am. Working like that is just not worth the cost to your body in the long run.

Clifford you hit it right on. If jimmy wins another one I will probably have another coronary next year ...lol...

Thanks for the well wishes guys

Thanks Gary.

Steve, it is great to hear you are doing much better.

Sustaining that kind of work week will do it.  We can generally do it for a while in our 20's but after that the body says "NO!" in short order.

Steve, been there, done that, and remember it well, I got paddled in the ambulance first and they got me back up and running then a few miles down the road I coded again and that time I didn't respond to the paddles and they needled me back, so I died twice and the insurance man wouldn't give me my check said something about having to stay dead, I've been stented since and stented again, now they claim that I've got late stage 2 congestive heart failure but thats ok cause I've also got parkinsons and MS so it's just another word to add to the pile along with an anurism on the side of my heart, just an inconvienance for the most part.  I follow the doctors orders to the letter, wanna buy a bridge?  I got bored in intensive care after a while so I asked the doctor why I couldn't go home, he said cause I would over do it and be dead, I begged and he told me if I spent a month sitting in my chair and looking out my window I could go home, I promised and he let me go home cause I had promised and I had an honest face ( wanna buy a bridge?) interesting side note is he was doing a colostomy test with the 3 inch booster hose when he told me I had an honest face,, one question tho, do they normally have both hands on your shoulders when they do that test?  that was a wednsday, the next day I fueled up my chair and friday I sat in my chair holding my steering wheel watching my yard go past my window at 70 while I headed for a bluegrass festival that I was scheduled to be at in columbus ohio, I figured I could be dead or just feel like I was dead, now earlier this year I thru away all the meds they gave me and I feel much better than when I was doped up all the time.  When I die I'll be planted but until then I want to at least feel alive, besides they both had a chance at me and neither the good lord nor the devil wanted me so I'm safe, but glad your doing good.
