Trip and bus sightings

Ahoy, BusFolks,

Just back from a trip from Carmel, CA to St. Paul MN, Park Ridge IL, and return in my -01 Eagle. Nice trip.

Only problem was that my clutch needed adjustment, because the clutch brake was not effective. Into a Freightliner dealer in Iowa. Wrong!!!! Out of there too late to return, and still no clutch brake, plus now I could not sustain full power without clutch slip. I worried it as far as Des Moines, into a Home Depot, and built a six inch high one sided ramp. Blocked the other wheels and crawled my aged butt under the bus -- quite comfortable, in fact.

Adjustment of my (very standard 14" double disc clutch) was done seriously wrong, so I fixed it. On return home, I inquired, and learned that many - most? new trucks have self adjusting clutches. I'll bet that the young mechanic had never before done a clutch adjustment.

Lottsa S&S on the road, some up-scale Prevost and MCI's, but only two Bus Conversions were sighted. Both in CA -- a GM 4107 at Lodi, and a polished ? crossing Pacheco pass. Maybe a Flex -- had the scoop on top, but it was not a Clipper. More like an early GM, but who else used a scoop on top?? Anyone know what it may have been?

If you were adjusting the linkage Bob I trust you put lots of NeverSeize on those threads.  I had mine all apart this spring and I can assure you it will adjust a lot easier the next time than it did that time.
