Hi yo silver

I promised myself I would learn to post pics before I reported on another trip, but that might never happen.  I won't even play the busy card, because some of you keep schedules and accomplish stuff that puts me to shame.

Anyhow, I need to report that my 3,500 mile trip last spring from VA, to San Antonio, across the Gulf coast, then home, came off without a hitch.  I replaced four aging tires and a balky starter before that trip, and had no trouble, used maybe a gallon of oil.  The 8V71N in the MC9 is really slow climbing the hills around home, but once in the flat country sings right along.  It was after this long trip that the gasket on the spin-on transmission filter decided to let go and gave me a scare, but after replacing the filter and topping off the fluid, it has done fine.  (That happened on a routine refuel run, close to home, phew.  There a post re. that incident somewhere on the board.)

Then last month, Marilyn and I took the bus to VA Beach, and to the the Eastern Shore of VA for a few weeks.  The bus ran great.  We had beautiful weather, ate some great seafood, and met some nice people.  We're hoping to squeeze in one more short trip, maybe to one of the state parks, before time to winterize.

Couldn't enjoy this bus without the help of you guys on the board.  Thanks!  I don't take this for granted.

Time to start raking the leaves...

Great news!  I love to read posts like this and wish there were more of them.  The board is a great resource in time of technical challenges and on the road break downs, but as a result everyone hears so much about the problems with very little about the trouble free trips that it can start to seem like every trip brings a breakdown.  While that isn't the reality, it still can be very discouraging.

So I hope everyone will get in the habit of posting the good news when they have a good trip so that all can share in the satisfaction of it and take encouragement from it.

If you like good news travel stories Mike you should love this:

The picture doesn't really do justice to the miles because we've been back and forth over the same stretch of highway several times but the only repairs we've done since July 1 was an alternator a couple of weeks ago.  That didn't shut us down and I should have done it as maintenance but I never quite got a round tuit until it actually quit making electricity.  I guess we rebuilt the tag brakes during that period too but that was planned maintenance.  I've added quite a bit of oil during that time because I still haven't got around to tearing my check valves apart.  One of the hazards of staying in nicer campgrounds is that they frown on people taking the noisy bits apart but I think I'll get to that task within the next couple of weeks too.
