Could somebody provide me with a part number for one of these beasts?  The 92 manual doesn't appear to list part nos. but references a "late model" design.

I understand that the direction of rotation is different from RH (making the pump scroll a mirror image of the RH)

My '80 vintage MCI-9 parts manual won't have the "late model" part no.

Thanks,  Marc Bourget

I believe a truck water pump is different that a bus water pump. When I installed a 8V92TA truck motor in my bus I had to replace the water pump ... the inlet and outlet positions were different.

Marc, My MC9 parts manual (printed in 2001) list 8922335 as the pump assembly for 8V92TA

Marc also needs the part number for a LH water pump for both the 92 and 71 series.

Most likely a marine number for the 92s, a GMC number for the 71s.

Well, if the 71 series # will work, I can narrow it down to 4 numbers, but I need a  LH engine serial # to know which one is LH.

From my Detroit Parts Manual- any of you GM guys have an engine serial number?

One other bit of info I can tell ya about them is there are 3 types of pumps as far as the inlets and outlets go!

Standing - Both point straight down ! `

Walking - on points down, and one is at about 45* angle !

Running - Both at 45* angles one forward, and the othe back !

I hope this is helpful as the man at Midwest Detroit in Scott City, MO where I buy mine frome always asks what engine? which rotation? and standing, walking, or running? And then replies ya I got it, come get it. Or bring yer old one and I'll build it for you while you go to lunch (depending on whether or not he has a housing or not!) BK ;D

The 92 series is a larger pump then the 71

Hey Marc,

On the LH and RH V92's the water pumps BOTH turn the same direction. If you study the cam gear timing in your V92 manual you will find the only parts that turn in opposite direction on a LH engine versus the RH engine is the crankshaft, idler gear and oil pump.  8)

The INLINE engines are different story. ;)

Hope this helps.
