To all who are battling worn out headlights:

The owner of the shop that is fixing my fuel rack and installing oil drain tube catch pans recently ordered a set of Kenworth W900A headlight assemblies from a regional Kenworth dealer.  They came with everything you need to remove and replace the broken ones that I had that were all but falling out of my 9.  These are round, not square.  It was a simple install and included the headlights, but no bezels.  They were around $100 each.  I assume that this would work on 5s, 6s, 7s, and 8s.  But please verify first.  It works great on a niner if you wanna stay round!

I have the 4x6 sealed beams that come with the R&M front cap on my 7. They were really dim and I upgraded to a conversion kit that uses the H4 type bulbs. The wiring was all wrong from the previous owner and only showed 8 volts and also that they were drawing off only one battery. I rewired them correct and used 12 volt relays so I could still use the original controls. I also have a seperate 12 volt system and alternator to charge up the house batteries and other 12 volt stuff so I just tapped into that for the lights.  It made a huge difference! Nothing better than having good lights!

I have the 7 inch round Hella Halogen bulbs items.   They have the sharp E type cutoff in the vert and they have a dramatic up sweep at the right edge to light up peds and deer.  NOTHING BETTER except projectors in my experience and the good E projectors only duplicate the 7 inch Hella's pattern.  The big squares "can be made adequate for a cost".  The little squares...abandon all hope.  7s are cheap at $70 and you get to select the wattage and get more and better directed light and temperature.

I think the point was that the Kenworth W900A headlight assemblies are brand new, can be ordered inexpensively, fit, and look right.  Not what type of bulb is best to put in them once you get them, we had some really good discussion on that recently.  I think this information is great, thank you very much for posting it.
