A five or six inch exhaust stack up the rear of the bus?

Going to block the taillights?

Going to make it hard to open the engine compartment access doors fully?

Going to make it hard to open the blower compartment door?

How about access to the rear radiator doors?

Gonna get mama some ear plugs so she can nap while you're driving?

Just some thoughts for you to ponder. . .

While a straight pipe sounds cool for a while, it will get on your nerves, and everyone around you also (including either a late night arrival or a early morning departure from the campsite).  I also have a 8V-71T and ran it without the muffler for a bit while working out the bugs-really loud.  I have a Donaldson 5" oval muffler with the inlet and outlet on the same end.  I believe it is about 20" long and rated for turbos.  When I bought it I looked inside and it only had one baffle-so it is quite free flowing.  And it puts out just enough tone to let everyone know what engine you have (my original giant muffler was literally a silent muffler-too boring).  Good Luck, TomC
