We are driving our bus down the road and Honey sees another bus going the other way. We get a sad feeling because we want to talk bus with them but we have no way to contact them to see if they want to meet and greet. As you busnuts know you can't turn these things around on a dime and chase the other down. Is there a way signal another bus for a meet and greet? Lights, standard bus CB channel, Something? We find so few other bus convs. on the road vs S&S RVs, it would be nice if there was something in place. Any ideas? M&C ;D

Wandering into their lane usually gets their atention, what you do to keep their attention after that is still in the I don't know stage lol.

While returning from The New Texas Rally we were climbing Ranger Hill on I -20. I was in third, then shifting down to second when I saw a copper colored Eagle heading towards Dallas. I was going so slow, but he was going a pretty good clip. I said to Bekcy "There's an Ealge". She didn't even see it, and I was too busy shifting to flash my lights. It would have been nice to meet and great, but that is usually not the best  idea on an interstate. He's going where I came from and I would have never caught him! ;D I sometimes wave, flash headlights and see if I get a response. Hope to meet him someday!

Swerve into there lane huh? Now, I know how to get yer attention! Seeing how 3 large guys (Mike Hill, Jay, and Me) standing beside a bright red van waving like crazy people doesn't get yer attention. ;)

Hey BK, I didn't say the idea was perfect lol. And besides, whowuddathunk 3 guys that we had just left a bunch of miles back would suddenly reappear in a town ahead of us, it's scary lol.

CB is usually the best way.  Truckers use channel 19 alot.  RVer's use channel 14 alot.  A CB should be a standard piece of equipment at the driver's seat.  Cell phone coverage is getting better and better, but a CB can save your but in a cell phone dead zone.  Plus it is entertaining to listen to the truckers (don't have it on if someone doesn't like foul language).  Good Luck, TomC

Paint your cell phone number on the driver side of your bus.  They'll call if they wish.
Hey, better than running them off the road.

Many years ago, we used to turn on the four-ways, to signal a "hi" to another bus. I know when I was stuck on the side of the road, that worked really good !!

CB's are great, except for the language issue. You almost have to use a earpiece if you are carrying young people whose ears need not hear it.

How about picking a channel other than 14 & 19, and talking it up on this, and other, sites? (pun intended)

If I see another bus, I try to stop, if only to smile while I get told to leave.
For some, patience is a virtue.
Dealing with me, it is required.
Thank God - He is always patient.

We found that using channel 2 is the best as there is NO bleed over from the trucker channel and its actually stronger wattage wise according to our meters! Don't know why, it just is!

You guys are missing the icebreaking aspect of wandering into their lanes, 1st, you instantly have their full and undivided attention   2nd, you now have a topic to discuss and I garuntee thy will want to talk, so poof, problem salved lol.

Ed Hackenbruch

I just run on 19 so i can hear if there are any problems ahead. Most of the time i can go hundreds of miles and not hear anybody thanks to the use of cell phones. :) I wave to other buses if i see them but am not going to start flipping to other channels to see if they are there. If i do hear some jerk on the cb i just turn it down or off for awhile. ;D

And Cody, they are usually real friendly too! although for some reason when they wave to you they only use part of their hand. ;D
