After the advice that I needed a 2000 psi power steering pump, I got out the manual and checked to see what I actually have.  Assuming that what is on the bus now is what it came with, I have a Vickers clockwise rotation 1000 psi max output pump with a really long part number.  What do I ask for to get the right upgrade pump, will it just bolt in/on, what else will I need to change?  Can I expect my hoses to be OK, or will they fail under the increased pressure?  Do these put out constant pressure, or does pressure vary with load?

Thanks for all advice!

The 2000psi pump should even look the same-maybe a bit longer.  The same hoses should work, and typically the psi on the hoses are around 2500psi-but clean off one of the hoses-you might be able to see the printed rating on the hose.  Take your pump in and match it with a 2,000psi pump.  Power steering pumps put out the maximum pressure when you lock the wheel hard over-something you should never do with any power steering vehicle-so just don't hold it locked over.  Good Luck, TomC
