Well folks, it happened.

We have a bit of an issue. We have a Dometic Sealand, toilet. We are loosing water out of the bowl. Water (best case), is leaking down the outside of the pipe that drops straight down into the tank. So we are getting water (again, best case), down the outside of the pipe, to the top of the tank. There the water sits...and I won't go into more details

.

So anybody know what is going on?

Just a WAG, but you really need to know WHAT it is.....

If its stinky, there is no pressure on IT, so it must be leaking when flushed, if so it is probably the seal between the toilet and the flange.

You can pick up a seal at any hardware store.

If IT is not stinky and just water, then you will have to track it down.

John Theres a valve in the peddle assembly that can get a hair line crack , if it's the one iam thinking of anyway just a thought .

We had our toilet start leaking like that. It turned out the plastic flange that bolted to the floor had broke. It let the toilet rock just enough to leak like a sieve.

What kind of gasket did you use? rubber, plastic, wax or felt?
and do you have a presure regulator?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

We are going to pick up another felt gasket (it is felt on there now), another flange, and another seal for the ball valve.

I am thinking we are dealing with two separate issues. Both issues involve non-pressurized water. The first issue is the seal on the ball valve. After that, the next issue is that either the flange seal is bad (probable), or somehow the pipe that mates to the bottom of the flange is leaking. We will see what it is...

I believe you have two separate problems also.
We are dealing with the empty bowl syndrome too. Ours is a Mayfield, not made for years. But some Sealand parts will work.
If we separate the porcelain bowl from the stand, the support, gasket and seal are visible.EEwww. Most are available at an RV supply.
How ever if the ball is damaged, in our case, it is part of the stand and is replaced as such. The only problem I find with empty bowl syndrome is water use when dry camping...Good luck....Cable

While we're on the subject, can anyone say what is the best flange seal? My Sealand was furnished with a rubber one, but wax doesn't wear out, dry out, or become brittle. I'm about two weeks away from installing it, and I really don't want to have a smelly leak.

Our Thetford came with a foam seal, but used a wax ring. I have never had a leak (yet) with a wax ring. Jack

Well folks, we figured out what it was. The pipe is cracked that goes from the flange to the tank. So we fixed that problem.

Not to mention, I believe we have a fresh water leak...somewhere...but we are almost home, and we can fix it there. I want to redo our water bay anyways.

I am a wax fan, never had one fail in any application.

Now to figure out what caused it and make it better.....

Yup, Phil, I think we figured out what needs to be fixed. We are going to add a fernco into the mix. A little rubber should solve the problem.
