We've been to two bus get together last year, and both were great also meet a lot of great people.(Some Twice Uncle Ned) Any way we were set on the MCI until we looked at the other buses  available. Still have some questions, if you lift the roof on the Eagle or Prevost and then put air conditioner on top that is putting you over 13 foot. Seems like that would be to close to max for comfort. And to add to a list of other things to be considered is the possibility of a slide out while we are still dreaming. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Just a side note is it  possible to put a slide in a 102c3 MCI with the extra bracing, and make it structurally sound, I don't mind the extra work since I am at the beginning. Thanks Jim

I can answer at least on of your questions. About the roof raise, it all depends on how much you raise it. If you raise it 3.5 feet, you will obviously be too tall ;). But we had ours raised 8 inches, and with low profile AC (those are 13.5 inches tall), then we are right at thirteen feet. Tree branches are our biggest enemy (we do carry a pole electric chainsaw). Or you can take up your bay space, and go with a basement unit. Oh yes, that 8 inch roof raise has been plenty enough for us. I wouldn't want to do more, and certainly not less.

I am not sure about putting a slide in a C3. It would probably be possible, with a lot of extra support and bracing.

On a 102, I would only raise the roof 6". This will allow a 4' wide sheet of aluminum to cover the former window space. If you raise more, you will need to purchase 5' wide sheets and shear them.  We raised our MC-8 8", but it had less OEM headroom than the 102s have. We were still able to use 4' wide sheets.  Slideouts can be done, but you will need someone with some engineering background to design the additional bracing that will be required.  Jack

Jim, it has been a while but if I am remembering correctly my Eagle was pretty close to 12' after the 8" roof raise. Maybe someone else will speak up but that is what I am remembering.

I just double checked. The stock height was 11'5". So it was 12'1" after the raise. And it was a Model 20. Models 01, 05, and 10 are even a little bit shorter.

Jim met you at Bk's Bob & Judy 89 prevo....We got a 45 xle (98) raised roof it has 4 roof top airs..We are in fla now making the rounds ..Want me to look out for a shell for you? Pm me if so...nice hearing from you again..Doing 3 slides on this one...I know you like the 102 Mci's.....berrybus has rear slide done in his mci and is working on front...Might be a source. of info...

BK its the same one. We really enjoyed the gathering at your place, still on the hunt though not in a hurry. Just got the book on slide outs and was wandering, might add a little  more work into it. Thanks Jim
