I was checking the transmission oil in my Spicer 8844 and it looked red to me, which I always equate with auto trans fluid.  I had been meaning to change it to a SAE 50 oil to see if that help the "engage gear at a stop light" issue, and so I went down to my truck supply store to see what they had.  They only had pails of SAE 50 engine oil and I only need 2 gallons, so I picked up some of the Shell Spirax GSX synthetic SAE 50 transmission specific oil that they had.  Not cheap at $10 a litre, but it looks like just the thing, fully synthetic, the right grade, and designed for gearboxes.  I'll put it in and see how it does!  Interested to see if I can tell the difference shifting.

If you going from ATF too 50# for this problem, your going in the wrong direction, you want the thinest viscosity you can use.>>>Dan
