For that, I'm very impressed. I received my magazine «just in time» since 3 months. Good job. So, I just renewed my subscription (68$ US in Canada)...

Just like that...in the magazine, page 6, the shower (pic) is upside down? Surely!

It was mailed towards the end of the last week of October, a few days later than our target mailing date. Based on previous months it seems that the average delivery time line has been 2-3 weeks, with some taking less and some taking more, in some cases rediculously more. Based on that, most of the people who didn't get it this week, should get it next week.

We are in the process of getting a permit from the USPS for "Periodicals Class" which is supposed to be nearly as fast as 1st Class. But until we have that permit, we are still having to mail by USPS Standard Class (formerly known as Bulk Mail), except for International subcriptions and those that paid the extra for U.S. 1st Class Mail. Unfortunately, the USPS makes no sevice guarantee or even an official estimate of delivery timeline on Standard Class.

Off the record one Postal employee elaborated on how Standard Class mail is handled. It is the filler used on their transports. We deliver it to the Post Office Bulk Entry Unit here. It goes into the queue to serve as filler on a truck to take it to the ADC in Atlanta. That usually happens the next business day. In Atlanta it goes into a queue to serve as filler on transports going to other ADC's areound the country, this is where much of the delay likely takes place as they process truly incredible volumes of mail. At the ADC's on the receiving end it goes into a queue awaiting space on transports going to the regional Post Office for delivery. If the destination address is served by a smaller local Post Office, then it again enters a queue for space on a transport to the local Post Office. Once at the Delivery Post Office, it is handled with last priority which can vary depending on mail volume and staffing levels.

Bk's is a perfect example of how poorly the Standard Class mail is handled by the USPS. Bryce is just a few hours away from us. The mail for him goes from Chattanooga, TN to the Atlanta ADC to the Nashville ADC to Union City, TN, a trip of only about 550 miles according to Google Maps. Yet month after month Bryce is one of the last people in the country to get his.

I will be SOOOOOO glad when we have our Periodicals Class permit!
