Nick,
An idea - is there somewhere on the board that we can post a synopsis of the facts surrounding Sam's trial and conviction so that if this topic comes up again, we can just nip it in the bud to keep anyone from being hurt (either by a misunderstood post or by a deal going south)?  I just want to make sure the board stays away from anything resembling slander.  Usually I am not a fan of having moderators shut down topics (and I think all of you do a great job!) but I'd be all for ALMOST automatically shutting down this thread and sending everyone to the location of the reference topic for Sam's trial.  What does everyone think?

Just my 2 cents worth I don't know what happen to Sam  in the later years but this I do know the guy converted a MCI 8 for us and he did it in a timely manner as promised and under his budget fwiw he refunded 12,900.00 dollars to us, that is all I have to say about Sam

This post may be due to my over developed sense of right and wrong, I'm wired funny.

Don't we have an obligation to protect?  Isn't it morally wrong to allow someone to be harmed by standing by and doing nothing?

I can understand how some folks get fired up over Sam as I understand he relieved more than one of our ranks of sizable chunks of cash.  I would have been one of them if not for a prior 'Sam' post on this board.  Any suggestion as how to warn new busnuts without alarming the censors?

Matt, you asked, "Don't we have an obligation to protect?  Isn't it morally wrong to allow someone to be harmed by standing by and doing nothing?"
Damned right it is!  On both counts!  (You had two questions there.)
John Ed...if I offended you in my remarks I am sorry for that.  It appeared to me (I have been wrong...twice I think!LOL) that you were attacking Brian and trying to tell him what to say.  I stil love you like a brother...hell...I love all of you like brothers!  (Even ya'll that ride around in rust mobiles!  Oh I am ssoo bad!) ;D
I was not in any way taking up for sammy boy!
Clifford, I have run into that so many times in the past...someone starts out good 'out the gate'...then for whatever reason winds up like sammy...shamed aint it?

I did not think that this would blow up.

My brush with Sam was shortly after he bought the facility in Allentown.  After our visit, he did pay for lunch, I started reading about earlier problems.  Then, after I sent my bus to another welder, some horror stories showed up on various sites.  I contacted some of the victims and thanked my inner voice.  Then we, on this site, heard from a person stating that he had purchased the remains of the business and was starting a new conversion company.  After a few replys, I have not heard his name being involved in the business.  And now new websites are appearing that are attempting to pull in new business from a new customer base - the main stream coach (stick and staples).  Maybe the company is pulling back and concentrating on providing a service that they can complete, on time, with good value, and not make another foot fault.  The industry does not need another problem.  At this time in the economy,  we all need to accentuate the positives.

Glen,

Repeating history is not slander.  We tried to get a site/link set up to alert people to "bad" shops.  That blew up as it opened the board up to legal action.  I can see that and I have great symp. for the small bus. owners.  I think you have hit on the solution....or at least another approach.  Post the transcripts of his trial and record of his conviction as a link and refer anyone you think might benefit from the info to that site.  Actually you can do that with a reference to this particular thread and anybody on the WWW can get the info almost instantly.  And should Sam ever get the "Converter of the Year Award" we should also append his trial record with that data.

Clifford.

If anybody ever deserved to be treated fairly or with generosity....well, that would be you.  I am happy that it worked out in your case.
