Hey Guy's

Iam thinking about buying a M&G braking system for the Tahoe , It's kind he heavy around 5400 # It looks pretty simple and not much to the instalation any thoughts ? Thanks Andy

I got to totally agree with Luvrbus on that!  I've towed a full size Bronco (5400 lbs) and our current Ford van conversion (6000 lbs) since 1996 with the M&G system.  Beside your normal duties required to tow such as connect tow bar, connect electrical cable, and safety chains; the only thing you do to activate the M&G system is quick connect a 1/4" air line from the coach to the towd.  That's it!  It's that simple.  No boxes or cylinders to install, align, adjust, add power, check fuses, watch lights, etc., etc.  No wireless delays or interference.  A single one time install of the air cylinder between the towd's vacuum booster and master brake cylinder.  Very easy to do.  It puts the stresses on the hydraulic master cylinder pin where it was designed for, not on un-boosted foot pedals that were not designed for stress greater than the average human leg can apply.

The only down side to M&G is they do not have air cylinders for many small cars, simply because the auto manufacturers have left no room around the master cylinder area.  For example Elva's Ford Escort ZX2 has no room for the cylinder and M&G doesn't make one for the model for that reason.  The car is only 2200 lbs and we have towed it a few times on short trips.  Don't even notice it back there.  But if we were going to use it when we full time instead of the van, I would have to look for another alternative.

M&G also has a break away system.  I've heard it works very well.  I built my own since I already had air in the van for bags and horn.  Plus it gives me towd brake applied (thanks to Jack Conrad) and break away signals on the bus dash.  Many will say a break away system is not necessary in a towd.  But I've heard some states and provinces have laws regarding same.  Don't know for a fact.  I do know the law in every state expects you to do whatever is necessary to be safe on the roads.  I figure if they require it on semi trailers and travel trailers, if they don't now require it on towds it is just a matter of time.

I have the M&G -- be sure the ground for the break away system is not disconnected if and when you disconnect your battery for towing

Andy,
     We added a 4 PSI pressure switch on the M&G unit. This is connected to an LED indicator on the dash of the bus through the toad wiring connector. The lets you know when the toad brakes are applied (during a service brake application or by an unitentional setting of the break away module).  Jack
