Interesting window insulation idea... use bubble wrap, really

I was looking around the web for information on energy efficient houses, and found this interesting article. The article advocates using bubble wrap to insulate windows. Might be very helpful for some here. I had never considered it before reading the article.

Hello 67 mci5a, I also own a 1967 Mci 5a and have been using a product called Reflectix insulation,which is an aluminized bubble-wrap insulation. I cut it to fit the left drivers and pass. windows also the windshelds.I use velcro to hold them in place. They work  well to keep the heat out and offer privacy too. Looks real good ( I think )with the stainless steel.  Glen Rice

On advice from a fellow bus nut, Christy Hicks, we bought our insulation from Lowes, bubble type with foil two sides. It really makes a difference in the hot Texas sun, we have only had to run two out of three A/C's on low when it was 106° F. A cheap investment, cut to fit all the glass. Now if I could get my four double pane sliders installed it would be even better, they are on a cross country journey and basking in Phoenix!

Hey, don't be rushing those windows.  They are enjoying their vacation before you put them to work.

We also used the reflectix and love the way it works.  We used it in the walls and ceiling also.  It is thin, bendable and really helps with temperature control.
