My MCI has a 6V92 as the previous. 2   I have always filled the filter when replacing and 6 gallons of oil total. That puts it to the full mark.  Done this 5 years on 2 buses. I bought a new operators manual and it says 30 qts. That would run oil out the dip tube. Just curious to know how much you guys put in.

Over the years of servicing buses I've seen them take anywhere between 5 to 8 gals +/- filters, and it doesn't matter which engine either! It all depends on who spec'd it, and what oil pan it came with! BK  ;D

IIRC, according to DDA, the correct full oil level is 1" below the bottom of the block/oil pan juncture, measured cold (or after 30 minutes shut down).

Might want to measure your coach's dipstick and see if it's reading correctly.

As BK says, 5 - 8 gallons, depending on the oil pan.  My own coach takes 7, for example.

I know I'm talking a different motor, but my 8V-71N takes 10 gallons-mainly because the bus has the big 750series Liberfiner bypass oil filter.  Big range on oil fills!  Good Luck, TomC

Tom, Your lucky to have that much oil cap. It helps also in engine cooling. Charlie
